Wenn es darum geht in Frankfurt guten Wein in Kombination mit gutem Essen vorzufinden, macht das Restaurant Heimat für mich seinem Namen alle Ehre. Zwar gibt es in dieser Stadt allerhand Lokalitäten in denen man Wein nebst Essen erhält, doch wenn man diese besondere Atmosphäre zwischen Restaurant und urbaner Weinbar und eine engagierte Weinberatung von lockeren Gastgebern sucht, ist die Heimat so ziemlich ohne Gleichen. Schon beachtlich was das Team mit und um Oli Donnecker und Sabine Fey hier aufgebaut haben. Für Aufsehen sorgte Dirk Maus erstmals, als er vor einigen Jahren für sein Restaurant im Staatstheather Mainz einen Michelin-Stern erkocht hat. Kurz danach schon verließ er diese Location, um ein Restaurant in Essenheim zu beziehen. Back from a few days at a wedding in Tuscany we had another one-night layover in the “eternal city” and of course I was again on a foodie mission. The few blogs I looked over before our trip all mentioned Roscioli’s bakery as an institution, albeit controversially discussed. Somewhere, I don’t exactly remember where, I read that especially the dough at Roscioli was outstanding and so I decided to go for it. So you’re a wine amateur and are planning a vacation in Rome? You are certainly going to ask yourself where to find good wine lists that won’t hurt your bank account too much. A one night layover in Rome and it was my first time in this city. Luckily I had a few tips in my pocket. After a short walking tour (Our Alitalia flight was 3 hours late, so we had to skip a few landmarks) we took a cab and headed to La Pariolina, a pizzeria and restaurant located in Parioli, one of the nice bourgeois parts of the city behind the Villa Borghese park. The tipp came from Winepunk Marco Zanetti, a sommelier turned “terroirist”, importing indigenous grape wines to Germany and maybe soon to your country as well. The particular thing about this Roman pizzeria is that it not only offers a nice wine list, but also a great craft beer list. Beer friends among you might know that a huge microbrew wave has been hitting Italy these last years. So here are a few impressions and I can only say that it was a great place to stop by, not only for the beer but also for good food emphasizing quality ingredients and also for its great atmosphere with not many tourists. Die Projekte des Feinkost-Unternehmers Meyer sind in Frankfurt eine Bank, aus gastronomischer Sicht versteht sich: Ob Catering, Restaurant, der Feinkost-Laden in der Fressgass oder halt das Holbein’s.

Letzeres ist seit etwas mehr als einem Jahrzent zwischen zwei Flügel des Städel-Museums eingenistet, geschützt durch eine kolossale Glasfront und Säulenkonstruktion. Es gehört zu diesem Typus städtischer Restaurants, die man ebenso in Geschäftsmetropolen wie New York oder Shanghai finden kann. Ein Business Restaurant mit einem gewissen Flair, in das man ebensogut als Privatgesellschaft oder mit einem Date gehen kann. Es kann zwar auch laut werden, in diesem Fall oft mit dem angenehmen Klang hallender live-Pianomusik als Beimischung, doch das Holbein’s zeichnet sich vor allem durch seine kulinarische Verlässlichkeit aus.
