“Le Bistro du Dr. Wine” in Shanghai: To be enjoyed without prescription!

Le Bistro du Dr. Wine

Many laugh about Chinese wine culture, often bringing up the example of fine wine being mixed with Coke, but during my 7 days in Shanghai I did see no such thing. On the contrary, Shanghai even has a nice little wine scene, with a panoply of shops (many with the so loved Lafite wines as crown of their selection) and also a few very cosy wine bars. Two times we visited Le Bistro du Dr. Wine, a hip wine bar with bistro flair on Fumin road, it charmed us with its stylish yet unpretentious ambiance and an appealing wine list.

Winery Visits part 3: Tokara and Delaire Graff

Again 2 winery visits where I didn’t take many tasting notes.. But both were already worthwile for the beauty of the facilities and friendliness of the people working there, so I’m gonna post a couple of pictures at least. 2002 Mont du Toît, Cape of Good Hope, SA

This is a more highly priced South-African wine than those I used to drink until now. I am not yet a great fan of South Africans, although all of them I tried were of solid quality. But I often find these red wines to have quite intense smoke aromas, ranging from slightly smoked ham, to heavily smoked bacon. It’s maybe a matter of taste, but I feel that these smokey notes are somehow unbalancing the wines. Read the rest of this entry »

Mit australischen Weinen habe ich eigentlich nicht soviel am Hut. Ich habe zwar schon öfter welche getrunken, aber dies eigentlich ohne das Thema wirklich zu vertiefen.
