2009 Schloss Johannisberg Rotlack (Kabinett) Feinherb, Rheingau

IMG_5881

Aber eigentlich Read the rest of this entry »

2008 Spätburgunder Réserve, Edition Fritz Keller/Aldi Süd, Baden

IMG_5835

IMG_5832

Domaine Michel Gros is one of the better names in Vosne. And since there is a famous adage for Burgundy saying “The name of the producer is as important as the name of the vineyard”, this is a crucial piece of information.

2003 Il Favot, Poderi Aldo Conterno, Piemont

IMG_5831

As many wines, this one also has its story. Aldo Conterno‘s Il Favot usually contains Nebbiolo stemming from younger vines (less than 20 years old) and is meant to be a deeply coloured but smooth and thus easy to drink Piemont-wine. But with the 2003 vintage, it actually is a downgraded Barolo. The whole story which created a certain hype around this wine is Read the rest of this entry »

Hooch Alert!

IMG_4563

While browsing my photo archive I found these old shots of a supermarket-shelf in Malaysia. It’s the kind of bottles you might stumble upon all over South-East Asia if you’re looking for cheap booze.

They kind of look funny, but you have to be aware that hangovers and headaches are included in the price.
