Although the famous Mercat de la Boqueria is flooded with tourists all day long, it is a must go destination for anyone visiting the city and enjoying food. Just a stone’s throw away from the Ramblas, which might also explain the never ending tourist stream, one enters a world made for gourmets and gourmands, consisting of countless stalls but also a handful of bars where you can have the freshest meals. After my recent post about the market of Valencia, here are some impressions of the Boqueria market.
The market plan. An online-version exists here.
Market entrance: an endless stream of visitors coming from the Ramblas.
Maybe the first thing you need to do, especially if you haven’t had breakfast, is finding a place at a bar counter and ordering some food. Fish and seafood a la plancha, paired with a tortilla is a good way to go. We found a free spot at Bar Kiosko Moderno.
By the way, quite a risky job. These ladies must have a genuine love/hate relationship with the plancha cooktop.
If you’re not into fish and seafood, there’s tons of alternatives. Junks food galore..
even sweeter and a bit naughty!
