Christmas view of Kuala Lumpur from my brother’s appartment. Great setting for dinner!
Of course I “imported” 2 or 3 bottles of German Riesling. This Van Volxem Gottesfuß showed great potential with residual sugar being perfectly balanced out by elegant acidity. Also it had a nice slate nose. However it still showed its youth with a rough texture. Needs a year or 2 still.
My latest discovery from Rheingau also made it into my suitcase. Flörsheimer Nonnberg First Growth 2008 by Flick Estate. Nice fruit, minerality and weight. A crowd pleaser but also way too young. A rough diamond somehow.
First Red: Pommard by Joseph Drouhin. Only big producers are available in local wine shops. Solid wine but nothing extraordinary. Triple decanted it with the blender to get rid of some of the harsh tannin.

Didn’t find a decanter. A blender did the job instead! :)
Hermitage. A little fruitier, but still a coarse wine. Both reds were a little to powerful for the climate and the roast turkey, or maybe also too young.

One of their basic wines. Good match with spicy food, but needs to be served chilled of course.
