The year in Rewind: My personal highlights of 2012

Happy new Year to all of you! 2012 was a year filled with many wines, not too many tastings and blind tastings, but certainly enough Epicurian moments to fill a few pages. I certainly have not reported everything, as workload was higher than in previous years, but there are some great moments that are worth being mentioned anew. Continue reading

Recent Blog Reads – Nov/Dec 2011

As you might have guessed already by reading the title, I decided to start a new category of postings entitled “Recent Reads” featuring links to other blog’s postings that attracted my attention. Of course this will be useful for myself in the first place, helping me to find an article that I’ve been reading when I need to read it again. But I guess this might also be of interest for the wider blogosphere, pherhaps promoting blog posts that deserve much more attention.

Naturally, as it kind of is the character of  this blog, these links will most certainly include posts written in various languages and covering topics that are either fine-dining- or wine-related, but could also tangent to various other fields. Here we go. Continue reading

“Le Riesling allemand”, verkostet in Kanada

Was sag ich, nennenswert?

Check yourself!

Bordeaux 2008 Primeur Tastings

This week, the whole industry of wine critics, wine buyers, wine collectors and enthusiasts has been in Bordeaux for tasting barrel samples of the last harvested vintage. Many blogs are thus embracing the topic; among those also some wine journalists who are using the internet to share their first impressions. In our oh so modern times some are even twittering (in German)their thoughts in real time. Continue reading

Sandwiches are sexy! Maybe they’re the incarnation of quick and sinful eating.

First because I can’t think of an ingredient that you couldn’t put into a roll of bread, and secondly because nearly anyone can compose a delicious sandwich to his taste even if he pretends not being able to cook.

Thus anyone can make his own sinful sandwich.

And if you’re not convinced by the appeal of sandwiches, check out Scanwiches, some kind of sandwich food porn blog. I picked up this link when watching todays Ehrensenf show, an daily German online show presenting interesting findings from the WWW.

By the way, the picture above shows one of my sandwich creations, well burger creations (same thing right?) I once made. Salmon burger with selfmade basil-mayonnaise, and homemade buns… That was a hell of a work for one sandwich I basically ate in 3 minutes.
