Bordeaux 2008 Primeur Tastings

This week, the whole industry of wine critics, wine buyers, wine collectors and enthusiasts has been in Bordeaux for tasting barrel samples of the last harvested vintage. Many blogs are thus embracing the topic; among those also some wine journalists who are using the internet to share their first impressions. In our oh so modern times some are even twittering (in German)their thoughts in real time.

I particularly like to read the Winedoctor’s thoughts on Bordeaux. His first impressions of 2008, more as a general overview can be found here. I’m very much looking forward to read his detailed tasting notes which should follow soon.

By the way, if you’re keen on buying Bordeaux, there are 2 indispensable sites giving an overview of the most important critics ratings and compiling the ultimate Bordeaux rankings with those figures: Bordoverview and Bertrand Le Guern’s site.
Of course it’ll take some time untill the 2008 ratings will figure on those sites. And even then, there’s always a certain risk in relying on those ratings and buying “en primeur”, since those ratings are based on unfinished wines.
