Immer wieder gibt es vom VDP diese tollen Jahrgangspräsentationen. Immer wieder ist es schön die Weine von vielen Weingüter direkt vergleichen zu können und mit den Machern ins Gespräch zu kommen. Bei dieser vielversprechenden Präsentation ging es um die 3 Regionen Ahr, Nahe und Rheinhessen und es gab viele gute Weine. Hier nun ein paar von meinen Eindrücken. Every Year at the beginning of June, Winemakers from the Roter Hang (Red Slope) Vineyards next to Nierstein/Rheinhessen hold their public wine presentation. It is to me one of the most beautiful wine presentations since it is held in the middle of the vineyards with an amazing view on the Rhine and all the lands below the hills. What also makes it so special is that you have to follow a course and every now and then, a tasting booth offers you all the wines stemming from the lot exactly behind it. A brilliant atmosphere is created! It goes on later at night when the so called “Riesling Lounge” at the top of the hill receives you with wine and background music untill the last thirst is quenched..

Again I was lucky to attend one of those tasting events mostly organized for professionals of the industry. This time it was all about Italian wines. And I got to admit that I always feel like a total wine newbie each time I get a hold of it.

So many regions, so many varieties, and the regulations and labellings are probably more confusing than the German ones. But I don’t complain about that – I get along with it and declare it as a lack of experience: Thus an easy solution to my problem is that I have to taste more Italian wines. And I can live with that! :)

Eine tolle Veranstaltung der Österreich-Wein „Marketinggesellschaft“ war das. Circa 30 renommierte Winzer aus allen Regionen Österreichs haben im modernen, aber durch Beschallung eines Streichquartetts auch folkloristisch gediegenen Rahmen des Cocoon Club 3-4 Weine Ihres Sortiments vorgestellt. Da kann man nicht nicht hingehen, vor allem wenn das Fingerfood Menu von Sternekoch Mario Lohninger sich dann auch noch so schmackhaft anhört wie es dann auch war. Read the rest of this entry »
