Gästehaus Klaus Erfort is maybe not located in the middle of the most fantastic neighbourhood of Saarbrücken. But, stuck in between a tenement and a gas station one finds a beautiful white mansion with a modern extension on the side accomodating the kitchen. From the street, one can observe the chefs through a glass window. Once we passed the entrance, we were directed to the back of the mansion where a quite unique terrasse is located. There you have the most beautiful view on a huge garden with endless lawn and a tiny pavilion on the side. Quite a contrast to the street side of the house and a perfect setting for apéritifs. Immer wieder gibt es vom VDP diese tollen Jahrgangspräsentationen. Immer wieder ist es schön die Weine von vielen Weingüter direkt vergleichen zu können und mit den Machern ins Gespräch zu kommen. Bei dieser vielversprechenden Präsentation ging es um die 3 Regionen Ahr, Nahe und Rheinhessen und es gab viele gute Weine. Hier nun ein paar von meinen Eindrücken. The 2007 Deidesheimer Grosse Hohl GG by Mosbacher is a powerful Riesling. Vibrant and musculous, yet with enough fruit and a beautiful acidity to balance it. Nice presence and nice length. Able to compete within Germany’s Riesling top league.

Den Badener Spätburgunder von Aldi musste ich natürlich sogleich mit einem hochpreisigeren vergleichen. Angeboten hat sich da gleich ein 2006er Spätburgunder des pfälzischen Weinguts Friedrich Becker, mittlerweile weltbekannt für seine erstklassigen Rotweine. Bei dem hier probierten Wein handelt es sich genau genommen um eine als trockener Qualitätswein bezeichneten Abfüllung für die Handelskette “ Frischeparadies“; daher der Name „Cuvée Paradies“.
