Sometimes, many times actually, I am just a taker of nice labels like the next guy. Apparent creativity just makes me curious. And since I dig graffiti art as well, be it the oldschool stuff or the latest developments, I couldn’t resist when I saw this beautiful bottle in the shelves of a Stellenbosch wine store.
Oh yes, and the wine is actually a 2010 Matys by Diemersdal estate, a Sauvignon Blanc of solid quality. Nothing wrong with picking a cool label in this case!

Always loved this label from Bodega 4 Kilos. It is a winery on the Spanish Island Mallorca which makes wines mostly from autochton varieties. This wine in particular, 12 Volts, comprises only 20% of the local variety Callet, the rest being Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet. I remember it was a great wine but forgot to take notes. The content of this old Barolo bottle wasn’t really worth a tasting note; or maybe just a quick one: typical Barolo underwoods scents mixed with a sour age note of cooked wine. Really too bad. So I thought I should at least honour the nice label design with a few pics.

I have a thing for neat wine labels. I even admit here and now that they often play a much bigger role for me than the actual color of the wine. My brains logic: a cool label has been made by a cool guy from a cool winery and a cool guy can only make interesting wine.
