Endlich habe ich dem Weinsinn einen längst hinfälligen Besuch abstatten können. Nachdem vor ein paar Monaten André Rickert als neuer Küchenchef anfing, gab es so einige Lobeshymnen auf das gute Essen. High End Food zum Beispiel freute sich, dass die Bistronomie Welle, die zur Zeit in Paris Ihre Hochzeit erlebt, nun endlich auch in Deutschland angekommen ist und mit dem Weinsinn einen erstklassigen Vertreter gefunden hat.
Dem kann ich nur beipflichten! Leider war ich nur mit meiner Handykamera unterwegs und die Bilder sind dadurch von sehr schlechter Qualität. Aber für ein kleines Restaurant-Telegram reicht das allemal. In Zukunft werde ich bestimmt auch detailreicher berichten. Read the rest of this entry »

Das Ristorante La Fattoria geniesst im Rhein-Main-Gebiet trotz einer menge Stammkunden wohl immer noch Geheimtipp-Status, was wohl auch daran liegt, dass es etwa 20 km ausserhalb der frankfurter City liegt – ungewöhnlich versteckt inmitten eines Wohngebiets im beschaulischen Walldorf.

Für uns jedoch ist die Fattoria schon lange ein besonderes Restaurant, da es schlicht und einfach unser Lieblings-Italiener ist, was wiederum nicht nur der geografischen Nähe geschuldet ist. Read the rest of this entry »

Natürlich nicht zu Fuß, sondern von Glas zu Glas – Zusammenfassung eines netten Weinabends dessen Anlass ein Geburtstag war, auf den es anzustossen galt.

2009 Rotschiefer Riesling, Weingut St-Antony: Fast goldene Farbe die etwas überreif wirkte. Am Gaumen dann eine üppige Frucht, die eigentlich auch fast von der ganzen Runde gelobt wurde, nur ich fand sie etwas zu dick aufgetragen: Mineralität und Terroir werden dadurch fast überdeckt. Bin auch wegen dieser hohen Reife bei jungem Alter eher leicht skeptisch. Aber leer war die Flasche in nullkommanix. Read the rest of this entry »

Most of the times I had Barolo, they were older bottles of average origin, thus dispersing all the generic perfume of leaves on a forest floor with mushrooms and some rather absent fruit. I would lie if I wouldn’t say that, even though those wines were perfectly ok to drink and had beautiful labels, I was slightly disappointed or somewhat bored. Read the rest of this entry »

The content of this old Barolo bottle wasn’t really worth a tasting note; or maybe just a quick one: typical Barolo underwoods scents mixed with a sour age note of cooked wine. Really too bad. So I thought I should at least honour the nice label design with a few pics. Really like the colourful emblem which was printed with attention to detail.

A week ago I spontaneously decided to hurry to Berlin on Sunday for attending the “Gala Grosser Weine”, a wine presentation organized by a local wine store where many top German and international winemakers were presenting their products. It was a great event! Out of the German winemakers I already knew many and previously tried their wines at more close by presentations and thus the core attractions to me were big international names like Giacosa, Château Canon, Ridge, Moric or even Château La Nerthe.
