Jay Miller describes this 85% Syrah wine from the Toledo region near Madrid as a “Côte-Rôtie” look-alike. I would qualify this comparison as a sliiiiight exaggeration (not surprising coming from Jay Miller, many would say). At best, this wine ressembles an average Côtes Du Rhône. It is undoubtly lacking depth and complexity for an analogy to the better Rhône crus, and you couldn’t expect such a level for that price of around 14 Eur anyway.
On the other hand, I really like the label which this time, shows lots of complexity, being composed of 3 individual patches. That said, I’d be curious to taste the top wines of this estate, allegedly stemming from older vine Syrahs.
