It seemed like ages since I last plunged into the bustling atmosphere of a French brasserie. So I was rather thrilled when after one last cooking presentation in the evening we all left for Les Vapeurs in Trouville. And when I say all I mean about 35 hungry people, a mix of bloggers, food lovers and starred chefs. I was pretty impressed how easy the brasserie staff handled all these orders, but that’s also what a brasserie is a about: fast service.
Everything in this place was so beautifully stereotypical of a French brasserie: the old neon signs, the furniture, even the menu design.
Aaaaah, les moules frites! I was missing this dish. The last time I had some in Germany (from a French chef though), they were burned! (sacrilège!)
Refreshing Muscadet was the natural companioon for oysters, mussels and other seafood. Louis Métaireau is a well established domaine of this appelation- check the winedoctor’s post.
No beer this time, but love this retro-neon atmosphere.
Also an occasion to try some unknown appelation. The name Pissotte sounded so tempting we couldn’t resist. It is part of the Fiefs Vendéens appelation within the Loire.
Backlabel: Contains also some Melon which is, I think, Chardonnay. It was a light but very perfumed wine. For most of us too perfumed and the Muscadet did a much better job with seafood.
The Morgon by Jean Foillard was an unanymous winner.
Time to go home… another great evening at OFF
