Yes I know, this place has been covered by many and only most recently by Trine from Very Good Food (I think I ate there before her tough, she’s just more of a genuine live-blogger), but that’s probably the reason I had to try it out as well. Mostly positive reviews I heard about this Burger Joint, some even stating they make the best burger in the city.
What is most original about the place, is its hidden location behind the lobby of a four star hotel near central Park. You have to pass a giant red curtain, where a small neon leads your way to burger goodness.
So here is my 7 dollar cheeseburger.

And it was a very good burger, definitely. Wrapped in paper for nostalgy, juicy, topped with pickles, onions and with melting cheese.

But was it the best in New York? I doubt so given the sheer simplicity of ingredients.

Any talented chef should be able to make a good burger. But now I have a benchmark and the quest can go on, maybe I should follow his waypoints through the city.
By the way, “new” rumors have it that the 26$ Black Label Burger at Minetta Tavern takes the crown – I’ll check on that next time (PS: take a look at this)
