Robert Weil meets KL Food Stall

This is something I really looked forward to for my trip to KL. Enjoy a fancy bottle of refreshing Riesling with the cheap and delicious Asian street food.

So I smuggled a bottle of 2006 Kiedricher Gräfenberg GG by Robert Weil to Malaysia, chilled it in the hotel fridge and brought it, together with wine glasses to a street food stall, the famous beef noodle stall in the Bukit Bintang area. Both the food and the wine were delicious.

Restaurant St-Pierre, Singapore

As our trip to Malaysia also included a weekend in Singapore, we seized the opportunity for a fine dining experience, simply because there is a much bigger choice for such type of restaurants as compared to Kuala Lumpur.

We chose to visit Belgian chef Emmanuel Stroobant’s French restaurant St Pierre where we all, in a congenial decision, opted for the degustation menu with wine pairings. Read the rest of this entry »

Back from KL – Good Morning Malaysia

Finally back from a spontaneous 2 week trip to Malaysia and Singapore. We were visiting my brother who lives in Kuala Lumpur and we really had a great time. The only thing missing was my notebook and the ability to upload pictures and post updates on my blog; somehow no internet café would allow me to use my flash memory card. So now that I’m back I have to catch up and relive the trip by retroposting a few things about it. As you can imagine, it’ll mostly be about Asian food, but there’s also one fine dining experience in Singapore and some German wine I brought hear to create good matches.
